Helmut Stolzlechner

Born in 1965 in Waal (Germany), lives in South Tyrol since 1969.

As a woodcarver, music is his great passion and a balance to his manual work. He learned to play the accordion from a good friend and has been playing the accordion for 32 years now. Other instruments include the clarinet and tuba. At the age of 13, he learned to play the clarinet with the Steinhaus music band and attended music school for a few years. He has been playing the tuba for around 15 years. He plays both wind instruments in the band.

As a big fan of Slavko Avsenik, Joze Burnik, Franz Mihelic and others, he started listening to and writing down pieces of Oberkrainer music at an early age. This requires a good ear and a lot of patience. This enthusiasm led to writing music and composing. Through seminars with Hubert Klausner, Günter Amann and others, he delved even deeper into the music and continues to write beautiful music in a folk style.
