Hubert Deuringer

Born in 1924 in Empfingen; studies at the music college in Trossingen (today Hohner Conservatory); studies at he university for music in Stuttgart and state examinations in the subjects clarinet and compostions. During the war he was a well demanded accordion soloist and saxophonist. At the age of 15 he already played in the dance palace, in concert coffeehouses, etc; 1945 he founded his own ensemble with which he became famous in “Radio Stuttgart” (the new radio station for the US army). There he played as a soloist, in trios and quartetts. Every day he performed in the one and only live streaming at the radio studios, every day 20 minutes music from Hubert Deuringer. Every day new compositions, new arrangements – and all music sheets written down by himself; a drudgery, he called it; Starting in 1947 he was recognised at the new formed Südwestfunk Baden-Baden, especially with his Swing-Septett. From 1950 he led the SWR string orchestra and a combo with various instrumentations. He recorded approx. 75 titles per year for the SWR. In Kaiserlautern he conducted the big radio orchestra. In the 1950s he composed more than 80 pieces in various genres per year, from jazz to popular music, from traditional entertainment to folk music. A passionated musician of grande technical and artistic talent. He was very welcomed in all German radiostations. Impressive cleanliness and good taste – this was his trademark. For all radio and TV stations Hubert Deuringer stood for accurancy and quality in studio recordings. Records for Polydor, Telefunken, Decca, Ariola, MPS, BASF and Intercord followed. More than 40 LP-records, CD productions and music sheets with Hubert Deuringer are published. Hubert Deuringer was professor for modern accordion stylistics at the Hohner Conservatory for more than 20 years.
